Activating the trial version of OziExplorerCE on a VMS GPS
Requirements.
VMS have installed the trial version of OziExplorerCE on their GPS units.
To make it a fully working version, an OziExplorerCE License ($40) is required.
If you need a map as well (most likely) then the OziExplorerCE License + Raster 250K Map (all of Australia) for $50 is a good option.
The Hema Maps can also be purchased for $149 separately, these are excellent maps for all of Australia.
The license and maps can be purchased from the "Buy Now" page of our website.
Maps
See here for important information about using maps in OziExplorerCE - Using Maps In OziExplorerCE
(Note - To add maps to the GPS, see the section at the bottom of this page)
OziExplorerCE does NOT include maps.
VMS may have provided an offroad map for OziExplorerCE, probably not, but I am not sure.
For information on some popular maps that work with OziExplorerCE, see the Australian Maps page of our website www.oziexplorer.com. There are links at the bottom of the Australian Maps page to other producers of maps.
If you need a map as well then the OziExplorerCE License + Raster 250K Map (all of Australia) for $50 is a good option.
If you also want to use the maps for trip planning etc. on the PC or need to calibrate your own maps, then the PC OziExplorer license ($130) is also required. The PC OziExplorer can be downloaded from the OziExplorer page of our website.
If you experience the following issue.
NOTE : We have had reports from VMS users outlining the following issue on the VMS units which must be due to some setting VMS have configured.
If you find the GPS Satellites screen shows and there is no way to move off it, follow the procedure below.
- Delete the "oziexplorer2.cfg" file from the folder where OziExplorerCE is installed and the menubar will be available to change pages.
Map File Path
IMPORTANT : It is important that OziExplorerCE knows where to look for maps to load. In OziExplorerCE configuration (File Menu / Configuration / Map & Data Files), configure the "Map File Path" to the folder where VMS have the offroad maps stored (if they have provided them).

Upgrading OziExplorerCE to Latest Version
VMS have quite an old version of OziExplorer, the latest version is better.
Download the update from the link below.
http://www.oziexplorer3.com/ozice/downloads/wince_arm/OziExplorerCE.exe
Please Note : OziExplorerCE does not run on a PC - it is not intended to, it will only run on the Navigator.
This next section is important as it appears VMS have renamed the OziExplorer program file.
If the exe file has been renamed and this is not performed the new updated program file will not run.
